What Limits You from Traveling

"Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving." - Terry Pratchett

People often travel to reinvigorate the soul and try to see things from a different perspective. A new environment is something that we need once in a while to somehow escape from the busy and clamorous world that we are currently living in. Unfortunately, as much as we wanted to buy that ticket and  get on that plane, we always have second thoughts. And most often than not, it boils down to these three reasons.

1. Lack of budget.

Traveling is often tagged with leisure, fun yet pricey. But exploring distant places may not always be that expensive. We can always cut down that extra cost. How? Planning ahead of time. Nothing beats a vacation where you get to enjoy without having to worry about your bank account. Nowadays, thanks to airline competitions, promo fares are almost available every month. Sometimes, it's even cheaper to get on a plane, than to ride a commuters bus. (Last September 2017, I was able to book a round trip flight to Boracay and Puerto Princesa for 220 pesos only! That was such a steal!) Also, with that extra time before the big day, you still could raise some money for your travel fund. (Sometimes,
"Take on vacations.  Go as many places as you can. You can always make money. You can't always make memories."
2. Busy schedule.

You have the means, but you don't have the time. You are dying to take those steps, but you are just totally tied up. This could be such a bugger, but one thing I've mastered from taking on many trips while being employed, is time management. Don't just meet deadlines, finish ahead of it. Prioritize first the tasks that are toxic and needs preparation, and make sure that you're done with them before your target date of travel. In that way, you won't be worrying about those unfinished work and deadlines during your trip. Also, keep that tiny calendar with all the holidays and long weekends listed on it. ;)

"Life is short. The world is big. It awaits your exploration. If you're not living on the edge, you're just taking up away too much space."
 - Paul Beaver

3. Lack of information

Sometimes, you are are scared to take on your first adventure, primarily because you don't have any idea about the place you're going to. You are completely lost in a vast expanse, in streets that you haven't crossed in your entire life, in a crowd of people with no familiar faces in sight, and even worse, speaks in languages that you can't even comprehend. But isn't it the purpose of traveling? To meet new people, to learn new languages, to engulf yourself in a new culture far beyond the ones that you are so used to. If the surprise does not make you that comfortable, you can always resort to researching about the place. Click on the map and familiarize yourself with the directions, the travel time and the means of transportation. Find the spots and the local food that you shouldn't miss. And lastly, don't forget to pack some local phrases, especially for "Thank you", which kinda makes the locals more comfortable too. :)

"Not all those who wander are lost."
